Qualifications

In addition to the basic education/knowledge requirements described above, you must have at least one year of auditing experience at the next lower grade or equivalent using the Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector.  Specialized experience is demonstrated experience using the Government Accountability Office’s GAGAS. Candidates should be able to apply audit techniques and procedures, have expert skill in overseeing audits and/or evaluations that promote economy, efficiency, and effectiveness. The ideal candidate for this position will be able to demonstrate the following:
(1) Advanced knowledge over IT systems; other automated tools; and IT issues such as IT security, forensic, data analysis, and communications infrastructure with an emphasis on a wide variety of analytical techniques, both quantitative and qualitative.
(2) Advanced knowledge of Federal Accounting and Financial Statement Auditing Standards and how to effectively use these standards to conduct Financial audits.
(3) Skill in effectively overseeing the application of data analysis and the communication of analysis and solutions to problems. (Describe the kinds of oral presentations you have made and the type of original writing you have generated including the purpose and audience of your oral presentations and written communications.)
(4) Ability to apply new methods based on new approaches employing this knowledge for oversight of agency IT operations. (Discuss the methods you use to research, gather and analyze facts, and study to resolve a problem.)
(5) Ability to establish and maintain close effective working relationships with peers, supervisors, agency officials, and others. Specifically, work in close coordination with Team Leaders of other teams, the Quality Assurance Manager, the AIGA and Deputy AIGA. (Provide examples of specific assignments that required you to use tact, diplomacy, and negotiation skills to achieve cooperation and develop consensus.)

Applicants must have a degree in accounting, or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting. The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law.
